How I work

I believe that seeking therapy is a sign of strength. It takes courage to face our difficulties and grow.

Therapy is a relationship of trust and I am dedicated to provide safety, confidentiality and support. Therapy will only be effective if the client feels safe and comfortable to explore their issues.

I work in partnership with clients empowering them to have clarity, strategy and effective plan of action. I assist clients understanding how the past is influencing the present life and how to best change patterns of behavior. My goal is to assist and support well being, empowering people to have more rewarding lives through counseling services.

For nearly 15 years, I have been working with individuals and couples that are eager to grow and improve their lives. I work collaboratively with each client towards clarifying the clients’ goals, developing a significant sense of purpose and creating a more satisfying life.

I utilize an integrative approach providing insights and practical skills strategies. My approach is holistic, with mindfulness practice, strengths-based perspective, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

I have been supporting people to decrease symptoms of anxiety, depression, and grief. I have extended experience working with cross-cultural issues, and I provide support for caregivers. I also help people to increase satisfaction at work, parenting and self-esteem, and to resolve old or current problems. In addition, I lecture and give workshops on a variety of topics, and provide consulting services.

I am fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English, and have extensive experience working with international clients and their adjusting needs. I also work with parents and their challenges of raising children. I have a special interest in mothering/women’s issues.
